Grief Yoga® and Yoga Nidra MEDITATION

Have you ever heard this when you are grieving or in pain? “Aren’t you over that yet?” “Didn’t that happen a long time ago?” “You should be over that by now.” “Be grateful he lived a long life.” “You’re young. You can have another baby, marry again, etc.” “You’ll find another job.” “How could you still love her after what she did to you?” “I’m sure everything will be fine soon.”
Join me in the safe, calm setting of the salt cave to welcome, explore and release the heaviness of your grief and pain. Allow your grief to “speak”. The Grief Yoga® practice uses breath, movement and sound to let you witness your grief/pain and use it as fuel to welcome more joy, love, and connection in your life. It is not about forgetting but about integrating. It can be done all seated, seated/standing, or any combination with a mat which provides safe access to all who need healing in their life.
The 2nd part of this event is Yoga Nidra Meditation. Release the gas pedal and slow things down. This powerful, non-movement meditation practice has shown to help counteract the effects of trauma, PTSD, sleep disorders, anxiety, stress, depression, pain, and many other ailments to our bodies and minds.
People may have a similar experience of grief/pain with you but no one can truly know or experience YOUR pain. This is not about pushing down your grief/pain. This is not about toxic positivity. It is about feeling exactly what you feel with no judgement and learning how to integrate your grief/pain to grow and live your life WITH it instead of expending energy fighting it away; expression not repression.
This is what the practices have done for Charity: “We are all made of dark and light; grief and love. As my teacher, David Kessler, says “Grief is love with nowhere to go.” I made a tough decision to witness my grief and pain. It wasn’t easy. Society tells us to stuff it down and to push it away, but after years of doing this, all it brought me was resistance, tension, sadness, and pain. Through witnessing and getting to know my pain, I have experienced more love and light and less heaviness and darkness. I have found ways to honor my loved ones, my experiences lost, and my aging and to walk through life with grief as my “partner” rather than someone who came to ruin my life. After offering space for my grief to connect with my life, I actually see things clearer and have more joy than I have ever felt. I didn’t ask for grief to come into my life but it did and now it is a part of me that I am choosing to grow around.”

Yoga mat and props – Earth Salt Stone has mats that will be laid out in the salt cave, bolsters, blocks, and blankets so if you don’t have anything or would rather leave your items at home feel free to. 😊

Socks, sweater, etc in case you tend to get chilly.
You will be guided by founder and owner of Soul’s Lighthouse, Charity Haney. She is a certified Grief Yoga® and Yoga Nidra teacher, grief educator, a retired Navy Veteran, a professional musician, and has experienced many forms of grief: divorce, living apart from her children, losing her father, family, mentors, and friends, retiring from the U.S. Navy, childhood sexual trauma, traumatic events in adulthood, and chronic pain/mobility issues.
