Grief Yoga® Retreat: Remember & Rekindle Your Light
Many of us have suffered excruciatingly painful losses; loved ones, friends, pets, jobs, relationships, mobility in the body, time waiting for a loved one to pass on, childhoods, the list is endless. Things that were so simple and routine before our loss such as showers, eating, sleeping, getting up, talking, etc became paralyzing and non-existent without us even noticing. The world around us moved at lightning pace and we were stuck struggling to breathe. We disconnected from our body, our emotional self, our feelings, our friends and family…our own light. Maybe we pushed ourselves back to work quickly like society says we should which may have given initial relief from the overwhelming sadness and dark abyss that the loss created in our lives. There is no wrong way to process grief and we made difficult choices to try and handle the pain.
However, grief is like a small child who doesn’t want to be ignored or brushed off. When it is treated like that it gets louder, hurt, and annoyed. Like a small child, our grief wants to be witnessed, seen, heard, accepted and loved. If we don’t allow ourselves adequate space and time for our grief it will “act out” and “throw tantrums” in our body.
